The Commonwealth Schoolhouse offers the perfect opportunity for your child to gradually develop the skills needed for a successful transition into school. We believe that play is still the most important part of the learning process—it's how children naturally explore, grow, and understand the world around them.
By building on each child’s interests and joy in discovery, we nurture curiosity and a love of learning. When children are curious and excited to learn, that passion stays with them.
Your child will be immersed in a rich environment full of arts, crafts, and a wide variety of materials to spark imagination and creativity. With gentle guidance and a consistent daily routine, we help ensure a smooth and confident step into the next stage of their educational journey.

Nicole Arroyo is the founder of The Commonwealth Schoolhouse, a thoughtfully designed early learning community rooted in connection, creativity, and hands-on discovery. As a mother of two, Nicole brings both professional insight and lived experience to her work, guided by a deep understanding of what families truly seek in their children’s earliest learning years.
Her journey into early childhood education began at a well-respected preschool in Pinole, California, where she discovered a passion for nurturing young learners through play-based, developmentally meaningful experiences. That foundation became transformative during the pandemic, when Nicole was entrusted by six families to open her own private schoolhouse. This opportunity allowed her to design and lead a personalized learning environment while developing enrichment programs that continue to shape her educational philosophy today.
Since then, Nicole has cultivated a warm and inspiring indoor/outdoor learning space within her home, where children are encouraged to explore, create, and grow at their own pace. The Commonwealth Schoolhouse is more than a preschool—it is a close-knit community built on trust, intention, and a shared belief in the power of early childhood.
Nicole’s vision has always been to create the kind of learning environment she once searched for as a parent herself: one that honors childhood, supports families, and allows both children and community to flourish. That vision continues to evolve as The Commonwealth Schoolhouse grows.
